Which would you be more interested in reading/watching?
Hello All! I am working on 2 stories at the moment. I love to research so I am thoroughly looking into character development, plot, etc. and especially legal matters in the creative arts (writing and art). I am so excited to announce that one will be a romance comedy and the other an action-adventure genre.
If anyone has good websites/resources about writer/artist development and/or legal matters, that’d greatly expedite the process! I have a few websites and vague ideas but by no means am I a rehearsed expert. On other news, BAAU Down is coming together as I can see so hopefully can confirm that my picture can be published in it. Thanks all and hang tight :)
"The Fault in Our Stars" movie trailer! How sweet does this seem? It’s been at least 5 years since I’ve worked in the oncology field…been at a cancer-screening clinic for 4 years and now doing psycho-oncology research. It’s been a true blessing realizing how precious life is and it’s who you spend it with.
More real life news— I am in full swing for school but have been really behind. Besides the weather being all “wintery” now for the first time in CA…I’ve been struggling with being sick and it’s been tough, not knowing exactly what it is and how to treat it. You would think that being in a post-bac program and giving it my all with a fresh start at a second chance to really shine— that life gives you a break. But it doesn’t. Human bodies fail, relationships falter, and tensions rise and all because I want to achieve my dreams. It is true what they say, short-term pain for long-term gain in which I hope for. There is a BAAU meet Saturday 2/8 but I have a health/medical conference to attend at Stanford. On top of that, FanimeCon Staff meeting is that same day as well. Odd how everything happens on 2/8, I guess no one wants to infringe upon President’s Day or Valentine’s Day haha -xoxo km
Life has been busy. I’ve talked to the editors of BAAU Down 13 and he said that there is potential for my work to be in the magazine YES! I am hoping to submit a few more singular art pieces so I can increase my chances and hopefully produce better pictures :) I am so excited. It’d mean the world if I could publish- a little ego boost for the aspiring artist in me. WHEE but of course all that will happen after I conquer school, mcat, and research work x_x hard. knock. life. So here’s a pictures of two bunnies kissing, DAWE :3

*Squeals* :3 super excited and GLAD that I finished this. You know I just realized that the whole time I was drawing this picture, I was completely focused 100%. Nothing else in the world bothered me and for that couple hours, it was pure concentration and bliss. Thank you art <3
PS: apologies for the scan quality :) and poor erasing…LOL I will gladly accept any good art supplies as I am using the good ol’ pencil and eraser haha
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas 2013!

I know it’s been a while! I apologize. Just finished Finals and MCAT is looming over me. Well happy to post that this is my first completed picture in a while :D So please pardon the rigidity, I’ll practice drawing more smoothly. She’s so pretty and I adore her face. I was trying to go for elegant and lady-like and I think she portrays it well. Inspiration coming from 1950s Audrey Hepburn yay! Just a random character but all artistic rights reserved ><
I have finally figured out why I have been in an artist’s rut…for YEARS. I have always had trouble finishing a picture…but starting art projects or drawing sketches, no problem! But the end product was always my problem. Whether it be my procrastination or just time crunch, I have finally realized why— I NEED a goal. Simple! I realized this when I saw my friend’s Manga University Tarot Card deck and it brought up good memories of when I had my own Chinese-themed tarot card deck. Inspirations to dabble with tarot cards came from…Escaflowne!!! (Likewise my interest/practice of fencing came from Utena but who’s keeping track) So…I decided to make my own tarot card deck. It’s going to be a big goal considering there is 78 cards and a majority of them need designs. I am currently obsessed with Attack on Titan so I figure I can draw my favorite current anime while creating a deck! If all goes well, I can mass produce them and maybe sell them at FanimeCon :D pending if that’s legal…fanart eh. Wish me LUCK! xoxo, km

Enormously talented, with a terrific temperament and a bouncy effervescent quality. “The Strad”
Quick post today since I have not drawn my two-bits yet, I will post an awesome link to classical music instead. I present to you the music of Soyoung Yoon, the 14th Henry Wieniawski Violin Competition Winner of 2011. It’s an international competition held every five years to scout for the best violinists under 30 years old. Classical and opera music were an acquired taste for me— perhaps in hope of feeling more sophisticated ;) But really, check it out. Music can move people in so many different ways. Personal recommendation, Stage 4 music. Impeccable and powerfully emotional. I will upload a drawing sketch soon but will try to blog often. Enjoi xoxo, km

Few things I want to discuss in my second post:
1. I am in love with Fall Out Boy. I have been a big fan since the inception of their first debut album, Take This To Your Grave, back in 2003. Being a faithful, unwavering fan for ten years, I finally got the chance to go to their Save Rock and Roll concert in SF in September 2013— best. concert. ever. Of course my undying crush on Patrick Stump was fulfilled when I saw him live, and boy did he deliver! One of my favorite FOB songs is…surprise surprise, Alone Together. In the lyrics, there’s a line that goes “I don’t know where you’re going, but do you got room for one more troubled soul.” I feel like that is how it is in this world. None of us knows where we are going exactly. Life will always be one, big mystery, and hopefully we all strive to become a happy, holistic individual, but our efforts are constantly met with surprises and challenges. Hence we truly are all troubled souls, and those two words have such a profound effect on my philosophical view as an artist. So Fall Out Boy, I thank you once again.
2. Sorry the last point was so long…but short and sweet, I enjoy Japanese-inspired manga, anime, and art. But of course that does not limit my appreciation for all kinds of arts. I thoroughly appreciate the Renaissance and Pre-Raphelites era art. Some of my most admired artists are Leonardo DaVinci, Donatello, Michelangelo, Raphael, Vincent Van Gogh, and Gustav Klimt. Nothing wrong with liking the big names :D I hope to one day be able to easily draw in Japanese-inspired and realism art.
3. I drew that sample piece years ago for one of my female characters in a story. I honestly think I was at my pinnacle years ago when I was drawing on a daily basis and focused on my artwork. The attention to detail on the hair and eyes especially were my forte. Attention to detail came to me when I read Oh My Goddess! (Aa! Megami-Sama), thanks to Kōsuke Fujishima.
4. My future aspirations are simple (and many):
One of the greatest gratifications for an artist is to see and know that fans fall in love with your characters and story, just as you believe in it. I am just happy that I very well-acquainted with psychology and medicine, which stems from my degree in psychology and desire to become a physician. But I believe a meld of the world of art and medicine is very much needed and will fuel my desire to create complex, meaningful stories that are relatable yet distinctive. I swear next post will be shorter. I was just excited to write once again. xoxo, km
Wow! This is my first post ever. I have always been an artist at heart but with the ever-evolving internet and social media, it was hard to find a social outlet to settle with- so Tumblr of course it is! Currently I am somewhat a BAAU member, http://baau.org/, Bay Area Artists Unite! And will hopefully finally get my work out. My first dreams as an aspiring artist is to draft/complete a story and illustrative manga/comic, and my future dreams consist of being a guest at FanimeCon and having people cosplay as my characters but that’s far future :D I am in love with Attack on Titan currently (Shingeki no Kyojin), and if you have not watched it, you need to- like now. Current obsession: Mikasa Ackerman. Thanks for reading, please follow and I will definitely posts some story snippets or drawings in the near future :)
If anyone is looking to collaborate on story-writing or illustrative drawings, please comment or message me! I am always looking for partners and more importantly, mentors in this industry.
ps: karamu manashiro is my artist pen name that I have had since I was like 9 years old. You shouldn’t break a promise to the 9-year-old you, and k. manashiro is still a good pen name to me :) For my artistry and Tumblr, I will answer to that, so please respect my identity privacy if you know me IRL (in real life) hehe ^.^
